Big flavor in this fantastic Roasted Sesame Green Beans side dish. These green beans are the perfect match for Asian flavors, and we really enjoyed them with Jamaican Jerk flavors as we made this video. We’ve also had them with steak or chicken to give some big flavor to the plate. This is a great way to spice up some green beans!
Ingredients
This recipe is for a pound of green beans (but is very easy to double if you need a bigger batch!) It takes about a pound and a half of fresh beans to have a pound left after snapping the ends off the beans.
Look for beans that are bright green in color. They shouldn’t have too many blemishes. The beans should snap easily when you bend them. If they bend easily, they are old and you should look for better beans for this dish!
The fresh garlic and sesame oil are what add the punch of flavor to take these way above normal green beans.
Making Roasted Sesame Green Beans
The best way to get the flavor to evenly coat the beans is to use a gallon baggie. Place the cleaned beans (snap the ends!) in the bag. Add the sesame oil, salt and pepper and give them a shake. The oil wil coat the beans and the spices stick to the oil.
VERY IMPORTANT!!! Don’t add the garlic at the beginning, or it gets cooked too long and turns bitter.
Very simple to make and a recipe you’ll remember! Rene’ asks for these beans often, and they are a healthy yet super flavorful alternative.
